Miss Maggie Lou
Often times, clients will show up at the NixPack studio with a string of apologies and excuses already prepared for what they are certain is to come: naughty or uncooperative behavior. I completely understand this! I mean, our pets are our furkidz and we feel responsible for them. We shine when they shine and we want to crawl under the nearest rock when they shame us and misbehave. Truth is, most pets who visit the studio behave exactly like the wonderful animals they are; drooling, barking, running, hiding, hissing, peeing, exploring, ignoring, wagging, wiggling, and entertaining included. They do it all. And guess what? It is OKAY! I photography pets because I love animals. I'm a sucker for them and I certainly don't expect them to act like little people. I always assure new clients that they should plan for a photo session to last an hour at the very least. I like to casually greet the _____________ <-- (insert your pet type here), and then go about ignoring them a bit while I talk to mom and dad and give the animals time to explore the studio and get used to their surroundings. Patience, tolerance and a quirky sense of humor will get you through most photo sessions. I want owners to be relaxed and unashamed of their pets while they are visiting. And yes, sometimes it takes a lot of wrangling and bribing with treats to get a certain fur baby to cooperate but it only takes a split second to capture that perfect moment and it's so much fun when you do!
In late May, Maggie, the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier, visited the NixPack studio with her mom, Monica, Monica didn't apologize for her or make excuses in advance. She knew Maggie would behave. She only warned me that Maggie did not like to sit for pictures and every time she, or her husband, brought the camera out at home, Maggie was off and running. Thought I'd post some candid images from our photo session that day. You tell me how you think she did! :)
Other times she just wanted to play with Snoopy and run wild.
And there were times when she ran from the camera to gaze longingly out the studio door...and to her freedom beyond.
But most of the time Maggie was a perfect little lady. She gave me tons of shots that showed off her sweet personality, goofy temperament and unique characteristics. What an absolute doll! Maggie Lou...you done good!!

Maggie surprised me with her behavior but I know it had to do with Claudia's professionalism and love for animals. Oh and treats lots of treats (the ones I don't give her often).
The experience was great and I'd recommend Claudia and Nixpack to any furbaby owner. Claudia was patient, kind and she totally captures Maggie's spirit in our photos. It was a blast!
